Over the weekend I went to a friends wedding[insert married man joke about a funeral here]. It was really nice to see two people embarking on a journey together that is going to facilitate changes in their life of such magnitude that they will cease to be two people and become one. It was also really nice to get shitfaced in a small shed behind the best mans mom's house the night before.
Aroma: Dark plum flavors with some light cherry. Hops come through a little but aren’t overpowering.
Taste: Taste’s a lot like it smells. Last week I tried Harpoon’s Winter Warmer and was overwhelmed by the spice and underwhelmed by the malt presence. The special reserve is like the opposite of that. You can definitely taste some bitterness but the dark cherry and light roast is stronger. Finishes with a tiny bit of citrus.
Mouthfeel: Pretty damn dry, which is crazy considering the flavor profile.
Worth a try?: Yep. It is an American red ale, which is a different take on a holiday ale and one you should try if you see it.
I mixed up 1 cup cooked lentils with 1 cup cooked brown rice, 3 eggs, half a cup of oats, then added some "steak-esque" spices along with a little bit of evan williams black label for flavor. I skillet grilled them for about 5 minutes on both side and they were decent.
Exactly what it sounds like...
The ugly: Six Steel Reserve's(the 6% ABV version)
Sometime around midnight I looked at the stack of Steel Reserve on the table and realized I should review this beer.
Aroma: Pretty much nothing coming outta the can. Smells a little metalically, slight broken dreams scent.
Taste:I swear I can taste a little hops and bready malt taste. It is mostly corn sweetness and watery piss taste. A kind of smooth drinkable piss taste, like the urine of someone who has drink good beer and a lot of water.
Mouthfeel: Dry...
Worth a try?: It was $6.99 for a 12-pack... you form your own opinion
Wow, your blog is so awesome. I especially love the amazing drawing. It would be really amazing if it was one piece, which is probably what the artist intended ...
